Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel

Travel to Yerevan on your own, pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Walking in the Pink City of Yerevan

After a late breakfast, exploration of the Armenian capital.
The programme includes lunch in a typical Armenian restaurant, a visit to the Matenadaran library

Day 3: In the cave churches

Transfer to the gorge of Asat.
This is followed by a moderate hike through the Asat Gorge with its unique basalt formations.
UNESCO World Heritage Site (approx. 10 km, 5 hrs, 350 m).
Continue to Geghard and visit the cave monastery at the end of the Asat Gorge.
After a late lunch in a bakery with an Armenian family, transfer to the hotel for the night at Lake Sevan, one of the largest lake basins in the world.

Day 4: Along the old Silk Road

Moderate hike through initially dense, then thinning forest,
which allows magnificent views of the surrounding mountain ranges (approx.10 km, 5 h, 250 m).
Visit to the Haghartsin monastery.
After a late lunch with typical dishes at the home of an Armenian family

Transfer to the hotel at Lake Sevan.

Day 5: Summit Day

Challenging hike through diverse landscapes to Mount Armaghan, 2840 m NN.
From the summit of the extinct volcano there is a view from the Sevanse to Mount Ararat.
On the descent through the wine-growing area of Wayots Dzor, we visit a Krawanserei
(approx. 10 km, 7 hrs, 830 m).
Overnight stay in Hermon.

Day 6: To the fortress in the mountains

Challenging hike to the 10th century fortress of Smbatabert.
After visiting the mighty ruins, with a magnificent view of the surroundings,
the hike leads to the Tsachats Kar church, before the descent to the village of Eghegis begins.
(approx. 8 km, 6 hrs, 450 m).
From there transfer to the overnight hotel in Hermon.

Day 7: At the Biblical Mount Ararat

Moderate hike in the Ararat plain.
Transfer to the village of Areni.
Hike through the Amaghu Gorge to the picturesquely situated Noravank Monastery,
which will be visited at the end of the hike. (approx. 7 km, 4 h, 300 m).
This is followed by a stop at Chor Virap Monastery,
transfer to the hotel for the night in Yerevan.

Day 8: Return home

Transfer of participants to Yerevan airport and flight home.
