Impressions of the hiking tour 'Harzer BaudenSteig'
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival by own arrangement by car or rail to the hotel in Bad Grund (Gittelde Railway Station). Travellers by rail can be collected upon request for a fee.
Day 2: Hike from Bad Grund to Lerbach
The hike begins at Hübichplatz in the centre of Bad Grund. Later it passes Heilstollen and Märchental and along the entrance to the HöhlenErlebnisZentrum. The 33 m-high Albert Tower provides a view as far as Thuringia. After crossing the dam of the Prinzenteich there is a beautiful view of the pond landscape. The route later leads down by steps to Lerbach (ca. 22 km, 720 m ascent, ca. 6 hours)
Day 3: Hike from Lerbach to Sieber
Today the hike takes you to the outdoor museum and the idyllic Söse Reservoir. The Harz National Park has a beautiful raised moor landscape here. At 800 m above sea level, you are guaranteed glorious views, before once again entering a “Baude” for rest and refreshment. Then the hike returns downhill, to Sieber, the end of today’s stage (ca. 19 km, 750 m ascent, ca. 5½ hours)
Day 4: Hike from Sieber to Bad Lauterberg
The third stage leads, among other things, up to the Großer Knollen and into the idyllic Lutter Valley. Three “Bauden”, two viewing towers, all in one day of hiking. Later, in Bad Lauterberg, there’s no better place to end the day than in the Kirchberg thermal baths or the Vitamar Erlebnisbad (ca. 15 km, 730 m ascent, ca. 4 hours)
Day 5: Hike from Bad Lauterberg to Bad Sachsa
From the spa gardens the route heads towards Wiesenbeker Teich, with boat hire and a pretty “Baude” at the lake-edge. From Ravensberg (659 m above sea level) you have a view of the Brocken and as far as the Thüringer Land in fine weather. At the end of the stage in Bad Sachsa you can expect a pretty Old Town (ca. 12 km, 550 m ascent, ca. 4 hours)
Day 6: Hike from Bad Sachsa to Wieda
Through the wild and romantic Uffe Valley, the route leads to the Stöberhai (720 m above sea level), the highest peak in the Southern Harz, with fantastic views of Saint Andreasberg, the Wurmberg and the Brocken providing great reward for the effort of the climb (15 km, 470 m ascent, ca. 4 hours)
Day 7: Hike from Wieda to Walkenried
The final stage starts in the river valley of the Wieda. Via Zorge, the hike leads to the famous Cistercian monastery of Walkenried, the destination of the Harzer BaudenSteig hike (17 km, 500 m ascent, ca. 4½ hours)
Day 8: Return home
By bus or rail back to the starting point in Bad Grund, and return home from there. Rail travellers can travel back directly from Walkenried Railway Station.

Individual hiking tours in Germany can be hiked at the stated times without a hiking guide, also by individuals. We provide you with all of the necessary materials, such as hiking map, tour description, etc.
Guided hiking tours in Germany differ from the individual tours in that an experienced guide with local knowledge accompanies you during the entire tour.
On our fixed quarters tours you start out on a hike every day from your fixed quarters, on a route that will lead you back to your hotel. We arrange all necessary transfers, which are usually provided by the local hotels.
