Impressions of the hiking tour 'Eifel'
1st Day: Arrival in Gerolstein
The municipality Gerolstein, at the creek Kyll located in the volcano Eifel is world-famous by its mineral water of the same name. Arrival all by themselves to the hotel in Gerolstein, by arrival with the train, pick-up at the train station Gerolstein by the hotel.
2nd Day: Hiking on the volcano way to Daun
Daun is a district town and a spa because of its climate which is beneficial to health, with a well spring, a mineral spring and acidulous mineral water. Hiking from Gerolstein on the volcano way, one of the main hiking trails of the Eifel association, to the Buchenlochhöhle in NSG Munterleym to the celtic-roman cult sites and from the Kasselburg down to Kylltal, across Pelm and Berlingen on the Ernstberg and from there on finally to the intermediate stage goal in Daun, (approx. 21 km, 5½ hours).
The hiking stage can be shortened for approx. 5 km!
3rd Day: Dauner Maars and Lieserpath
Volcanic activities in the Pleistozän spawned the maars, mostly circular and filled with water. Firstly hiking from Daun to the Gemünder Maar and to the Dronketurm on the 560 m high Mäuseberg with nice view on Gemünder, wine fields and Schalkenmehrer Maar.
Downwards to the Lieserpfad, one of the well-known hiking trails of the Eifel, along of the Lieser to the Übersdorfer mill, than forward in light ups and downs to Manderscheid (approx. 21 km, 5½ hours). back to Daun with the public bus.
4th Day: Hiking on the Tiergartentunnelweg
After breakfast transfer from Daun to Blankenheim, there on the Tiergartentunnel-hiking trail, a very beautiful culture and nature hiking trail, around the castle and town Blankenheim, afterwards back to the hotel in Blankenheim (approx. 18 km, 4½ hours).
5th Day: Hiking to Hellenthal
From the Ahrspring in Blankenheim on the Eifelclimb across the Wisselbachtal to the Paulushof and to the Wildenburg, than forward to the castle area Reifferscheid, a treasure of late-medieval architecture, henceforward to the end of the stage to Hellenthal (approx. 20 km, 5 hours).
6th Day: Hiking to Monschau
From Hellenthal again to the Eifel climb, firstly to the dam of the Olef barrage, than to the running-in of the Olef at the upper end and forward to the Rhein-Rureifel-Way across new built national park Eifel, alongside of the Fuhr creek to the Perlenbacher rather Höfener mill, to the Perlenbach water reservoir and now upside of the Perlen creek, across Engelsley and Teufelsley to the local hotel in Monschau (approx. 21 km, 6 hours); the hiking trail can be shortened at the Höfener mill for approx. 4 km.
The Old Town of Monschau is a medieval pearl of historical value, its preservation is accordingly advanced by the state and the federation.
7th Day; Hiking through the High Venn to Eupen
Climb into the High Venn (658 m) to the emperor Karls sleeping quarters, from there on the Ardennen-Eifel-Way through the natural park High Venn, constant light downwards till the tourist centre at the Lac d'Eupen in Belgium, than alongside the Vesdre (Weser) to Eupen (approx. 16 km, 5 hours).
8th Day: Journey home
Trip home from Eupen in Belgium or return with the train to Gerolstein (own initiative).

Individual hiking tours in Germany can be hiked at the stated times without a hiking guide, also by individuals. We provide you with all of the necessary materials, such as hiking map, tour description, etc.
Guided hiking tours in Germany differ from the individual tours in that an experienced guide with local knowledge accompanies you during the entire tour.
On our fixed quarters tours you start out on a hike every day from your fixed quarters, on a route that will lead you back to your hotel. We arrange all necessary transfers, which are usually provided by the local hotels.
