8 or 5 days Vogtland Leisure Hiking

Hiking in the Saxon spa region around Bad Elster, Bad Brambach and Franzensbad in Bohemia.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at the hotel in Bad Elster (no arrival on Thursday),
free parking at or near the hotel.
Rail travellers will be collected at Bad Elster Railway Station.

After settling into your comfortable room there is sufficient time
to stroll through the park to the Kurhaus or the Albertbad.

The daily hikes are planned in such a way as to allow enough time
for example to try out one of the many offers at the Albertbad or to go bathing.

Day 2: Hike to Bad Brambach

Hike from the hotel to the Vogtland Panorama Trail, then follow it to the village of Raun, a protected monument, and from there to Bad Brambach. After a refreshment stop, return by public transport to Bad Elster. Hike length ca. 13 km, 270 m ascent.

Day 3: On the Vogtland Panorama Trail

In the morning by public bus to Oelsnitz, hike on the Vogtland Panorama Trail along the Weißer Elster to Hundsgrün, then to the Arnsgrüner Höhe and on the Kirchsteig back to Bad Elster (ca. 18 km, 490 m ascent).

Alternative:
Bus to Hundsgrün, then ca. 13 km, 390 m ascent.

Day 4: Eger and Franzenbad

From Bad Elster Railway Station by Vogtlandbahn to Eger/Cheb. Hike to the market square, then along the reservoir to the former volcano Kammerbühl. Continue to Franzensbad, after sightseeing return by rail to Bad Elster (ca. 14 km, 310 m ascent).

Day 5: Landwüst and Markneukirchen

First a brief transfer by hotel car to Sohl. Hike to Landwüst open-air museum, from there a brief ascent to the Wirtsberg, with a wonderful panoramic view, back down along the Vogtlandweg to the Haarmühle, then back up to the Bismarck Tower. After climbing this, and a refreshment stop in Heiterer Blick inn, short hike to the interesting Music Instrument Museum in Markneukirchen, then back to Bad Elster by bus (ca. 13 km, 390 m ascent).

Day 6: Hike into Bohemia

Hike along the Weißer Elster into Bohemia, via Grün/Doubrava and Niederreuth/Dolní Paseky to the border at Aš. After a cosy refreshment stop, return by rail via Franzensbad back to Bad Elster (ca. 11 km, 330 m ascent).

Day 7: Hike around Bad Elster

Hike from the hotel to the country house, through Zeidelweidebachtal nature conservation area and up to the remains of Schönfeld Palace. Continue up to the Waldcafé at a higher altitude. After a refreshment stop, return down the Kuhbergweg to the hotel in Bad Elster (ca. 11 km, 190 m ascent).

Day 8: Return home

Return home from the hotel.
Rail travellers will be brought to Bad Elster Railway Station.
