Comfortable hiking around Meran
Sunday: Arrival (also possible on Saturday)
Arrival by own arrangement by car or rail to the hotel in Schenna, free parking. By rail to Meran and by taxi to Schenna (ca. 25 EUR).
Monday: Hike on the Schenna Waalweg
Ascent at the church in Verdins to the Hasenegg, from there along the Waalweg on a mostly level path through forests, vineyards and apple plantations, always above Schenna, to St. Georgen until just before the valley station of the Meran 2000 cable car in the Naif Valley, then down to Schenna and a refreshment stop. Back to the hotel by bus (ca. 11 km, 4 hours).
Tuesday: Hike on the Algund Waalweg
By bus via Meran to Algund, there along the Algund Waalweg and past its beautiful waterfall, again through apple plantations and vineyards, always with a view of Algund and Meran. On to Gratsch (ca. 6 km, 2 hours). From here along the Tappeinerweg, also known as the jewel of the walking trails around Meran, through Alpine, Mediterranean and exotic vegetation, with the spa town of Meran below. To conclude, a brief section along the Passer to the Sandplatz, and back to Schenna by bus (total ca. 11 km, 4 hours).
Wednesday: Meran, gardens of Trautmannsdorf Castle
By bus down to Meran and tour of this interesting former imperial town with Tyrolean flair, shopping spree or cultural attractions in this town in works of art.
Return by bus towards the hotel, stopping at Trautmannsdorf Castle, with a visit to these beautifully situated gardens, before continuing by bus to the hotel.
Thursday: Hike on the Marling Waalweg
By bus to Töll, at the Etsch Dam on the Marling Waalweg, one of the longest such trails. A varied and panoramic hike to Lana (ca. 13 km, 4 hours). En route, or at the end of the Waalweg, it is possible to have a break and some refreshment in one of the many guest houses along the way. Return by bus.
Friday: Hike on the Meran Höhenweg
By bus via Meran to the village of Tirol and with the Hochmut cable car to the summit station. The ca. 4 km-long Hans Frieden Path, one of the prettiest sections of the Meran Höhenweg, provides glorious views at a constant altitude of ca. 1,500 m, leading to the Leiteralm (ca. 4 km), from there by cage lift down to Vellau and along a lovely hillside path via Tirol Castle back to the village of Tirol (ca. 8 km, in total 12 km, ca. 4½ hours), and back to the hotel by bus.
Saturday: Taser Höhenweg
Short hike to Verdins and ascent by gondola lift to 1,450 m. Hike with magnificent views along the Taser Höhenweg to the mountain settlement of Videgg. Continue on a hillside path through the forest to the summit station of the Taser cable car. After a refreshment stop, descent by gondola lift and short hike back to the hotel (ca. 11 km, 5 hours)
Sunday: Return home by own arrangement
