This quiet part of the Palatinate, beyond the large winegrowing areas and unsullied by mass tourism, has maintained its pleasant, natural charm to this day. The ****Felschbachhof is the ideal hotel for hiking the almost 60 km-long Veldenz Hiking Trail and the West Palatine Uplands.

The name of the hiking trail refers to the noble Veldenz family. It starts at Lichtenberg Castle, one of the most impressive structures built by the Counts of Veldenz.

The trail leads through valleys and elevations and is characterised by its diverse landscape, natural tranquillity, untouched paths and impressive views. The hiking trail ends in the Veldenz town of Lauterecken.

All necessary transfers are provided by the hotel and are included in the price.

After the hike you can relax in the sauna, and in the evening you will be indulged with select meals from the organic kitchen. A well-stock wine tasting room is also available to guests.

The hotel also has a Finnish hut, which can also be used by groups (from 15 persons) for a culinary evening.

Tour itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at the hotel in Ulmet in der Pfalz, free parking at the hotel. Rail travellers can be collected by pre-arrangement from Altenglan Railway Station. After occupying the room there is sufficient time to explore the hotel and the immediate vicinity.

Day 2: Hike from Lichtenberg Castle

Transfer to Lichtenberg Castle, hike from Lichtenberg Castle – Rathsweiler (ca. 17 km, 440 m ascent). Before beginning, a visit to the museums Musikantenlandmuseum and Geoskop in Lichtenberg Castle. Collection and transfer back to the hotel.

Day 3: Hike Rathsweiler - Nerzweiler

Transfer to Rathsweiler. Hike on the Veldenz Hiking Trail from Rathsweiler to Nerzweiler (ca. 17 km, 510 m ascent). Visit to the oil mill (since 1730) in St. Julian, oil extraction from oilseed rape, poppy and linseed. Collection and transfer back to the hotel.

Day 4: Hike Nerzweiler – Ausbacherhof

By hotel car to the start of the next stage of the Veldenz Hiking Trail in Nerzweiler, hike from there to Ausbacherhof (ca. 14 km, 460 m ascent), after a refreshment stop collection and return to the hotel.

Day 5: Hike Ausbachhof – Lauterecken

Transfer to Ausbachhof, hike from Ausbachhof – Lauterecken (ca. 14 km, 360 m ascent). Visit to the Wasserburg in Reipoltskirchen, after a refreshment stop collection and return to the hotel.

Day 6: Free day to spend as you wish

Today is a day that you can spend as you wish. Recommended excursion from the hotel’s own leisure map, or simply relax in the sauna.

Day 7. Tag: Hike on the Pfälzer Höhenweg

Transfer to Lauterecken. Hike on the Palatine Hill Trail from Lauterecken – Wolfstein (ca. 20 km, 760 m ascent). After a refreshment break, collection in Wolfstein and return to hotel

Day 8: Return home

Return home by own arrangement.
Rail travellers will be brought to Altenglan Railway Station
