Variety is guaranteed on this hiking trail. Although the Palatine Hill Trail takes you higher than anywhere else in the Pfalz, the hiking trail can be easily managed, with plenty of moments to rest and relax.

For example Meisenheim, with its romantic Old Town and numerous enchanting half-timbered houses, or pretty Rockenhausen, with its clock museum.

Between ascents and descents there are panoramic views towards the Rhine Valley, and good opportunities to rest.

Whether from the ruined castles of Alt- and Neuwolfstein, the viewing point Juche near Meisenheim, the Moschellandsburg ruin, or the Königstuhl on the Donnersberg, at 687 m the highest point of the Palatine Hill Trail: there are numerous viewing points to enjoy.

Day 1: Arrival in Münchweiler-Alsenz
Day 2: Winnweiler – Dannenfels (16 km, 670 m ascent)
Day 3: Dannenfels – Bastenhaus (15 km, 530 m ascent)
Day 4: Bastenhaus – Rockenhausen (15 km, 330 m ascent)
Day 5: Rockenhausen – Obermoschel (19 km, 550 m ascent)
Day 6. Obermoschel – Meisenheim (14 km, 370 m ascent)
Day 7: Meisenheim – Lauterecken (14 km, 400 m ascent)
Day 8: Lauterecken – Wolfstein (20 km, 760 m ascent)
Day 9: Departure from Lauterecken

Arrival each Saturday or Sunday.

First arrival at the end of April, last arrival by mid-November

By car or rail to the first hotel in the tour in Münchweiler-Alsenz, free parking at the hotel.
Rail travellers can reach the hotel from Münchweiler-Alsenz Railway Station on foot in ca. 5 minutes.
