The Markgräfler Wiiwegli (Markgräfler Weinweglein) in its entire length from Weil am Rhein on the Swiss border to the Black Forest metropolis of Freiburg in five stages.The Hanseatic City of Gdansk, the Masurian Lake District, and Puszcza Piska Forest. Hiking on nostalgic paths through Masuria, an East Prussian landscape, as well as interesting sightseeing with local guides.

Gdansk, whose Old Town was mostly destroyed during the war, was rebuilt in line with old plans in the 1960s, and is now a place that is definitely worth seeing!

Combined air and bus trip, fixed quarters in a hotel at Czos Lake in Mrągowo (German: Sensburg, near Mikołajki)!

The price of the tour "Masuria and Gdansk" includes the following:

  • The flight or rail costs are NOT included in the price. Upon request we can book a cheap flight or rail ticket for you, returning from Warsaw
  • Transfer Gdansk Airport – hotel in Gdansk (if we have booked your flight, or by prior arrangement)
  • 9 overnight stays with breakfast

Tour itinerary

Day 1: Flight to Gdansk

By air or rail to Gdansk, bus transfer to the hotel in Gdansk. Travel costs to Poland not included in the price; upon request, we can book a cheap flight for you from your nearest airport, or a rail ticket.

Day 2: Gdansk

In the morning a tour of Gdansk Old Town, the afternoon is at your free disposal. Alternatives also available in consultation with the hiking guide. Dinner together in the evening.

Day 3: Trip via Malbork Castle to Masuria

After breakfast, by bus to Malbork Castle (German: Marienburg) and a guided tour of Europe’s largest fortress, built by the Teutonic Knights. The journey continues to Masuria, to the hotel located on a lake near Mrągowo.

Day 4: Hike to Mikołajki

Hike via Użranki to Jora Wielka. Continue via Stare Schady, then along the Tałty to Mikołajki. After a refreshment break, back to the hotel by bus (ca. 20 km, 5 hours).

Day 5: Wolf’s Lair, Święta Lipka, Rößel, Mrągowo

By bus to the Wolf’s Lair (German: Wolfsschanze) near Kętrzyn and tour of Hitler’s former headquarters. Then on to the Baroque pilgrimage church of Święta Lipka, including an organ performance. The journey continues to Reszel, with a stroll through the well-preserved town. After a break in the Burgcafé, return to the hotel in Mrągowo.

Day 6: Hike over the Paprotki Mountains

By bus to Jagodne Wielkie. Hike over the Paprotki Mountains to Paprotki and on via Marcinowa Wola to Cierzpięty. By bus to Mikołajki and tour of the town, then back to the hotel (ca. 17 km, 5 hours).

Day 7: Hike to Sztynort, boat trip

By bus to Radzieje. Hike along Dargin Lake to Sztynort (ca. 8 km), to the slowly decaying former stately home of the von Lehndorff family. After a break, by bus to Giżycko. Boat trip across Niegocin Lake, Jezioro Jagonde Lake and through various canals to the Tałty and on to Mikołajki. Return to the hotel by bus.

Day 8: Hike through Puszcza Piska Forest

By bus to Ruciane Nida. Quiet hike, at times near the lakeshore, through Puszcza Piska Forest to Wiartel, return to the hotel by bus (ca. 20 km, 5½ hours).

Day 9: Punt trip, hike to Zgon

By bus to Wojnowo, visit to the Russian Orthodox Church, the Church of the Old Believers and the Philippian Monastery. The journey continues to Krutyń, gentle trip by punt on the Krutynia. Then a hike along the Mucker See to Zgon. After a break, return to the hotel by bus (ca. 10 km, 3 hours).

Day 10: Return home

After breakfast, by bus to Warsaw and a guided tour of the Old Town. In the late afternoon, transfer to the airport and flight home to your nearest airport.
