Day 1: Arrival via Naples to the island of Ischia

Individual arrival by own arrangement to Naples Capodichino Airport, pick-up at the airport and transfer to the ferry harbour, crossover to Ischia, pick-up at the harbour and drive to the hotel, to be welcomed on arrival by the hotel director.

Day 2: East coast hike

Pick-up in the morning by minibus and transfer to the start of the hike. Welcomed there by our hiking guide and geologist Aniello di Iorio. From Barano the hike leads to the 135,000 year-old Campagnano massif, past a series of volcano craters to the pilgrimage church Madonna di Montevergine.

The route continues to the wild and romantic Scarrupata cliffs with gorgeous views of the sea. Onwards through cultivated orchards and vineyards to Piano Liguori, with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples.

After a rest in a rustic wine cellar, the hike ends near Campagnano
(hiking time ca. 4 hours, 250 m ascent).

Day 3: GEO hike in the magical forest

At the beginning of the hike you will see St. Angelo, Forio and the entire western half of the island from a bird’s-eye perspective!

The ridgeway leads through shady acacia and horse chestnut forests with bizarre rock formations, magical rock cabins and snow pits. Enjoy typical Ischian country products and local wine with a panoramic view of Forio in the rustic mountain restaurant beside the pilgrimage church St. Maria al Monte.

Descend through vineyards and gardens back to Forio (hiking time ca. 4 hours, 150 m ascent).

Day 4: A day off, to spend as you please

The day off invites you to relax at the hotel pool and to discover the nearby beaches and town. Experience the holiday island of Ischia with its museums and shopping possibilities, take a tour of the island by public bus, or enjoy a swim in the thermal waters of the spa and wellness gardens.

Day 5: GEO Epomeo hike

This tour takes you from west to east right across the island. Like travelling through time, you will hike through the history of the island, from its origins to today. From the starting point at an altitude of ca. 550 m, the trail leads through rock fields, pine forests and green plateaus to the peak.

You will be accompanied by fragrant Mediterranean flora and panoramic views of the sea. During a break in the mountain restaurant you can enjoy specialities and the wonderful view. The hike continues downhill through horse chestnut and oak forests, crossing fracture lines and sandy sections with sea fossils.

The beautiful mountain hike ends in Fiaiano with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples (hiking time ca. 5 hours, 250 m ascent).

Day 6: Wine hike west

This tour starts at the harbor in Ischia Porto. The trail leads through a sparse forest and old terraces with abandoned vineyards are passed. Along a volcanic crater rim, you will hike through the quiet, fragrant forest and look out over the sea with the Castello Aragonese.

On the eastern flank of the Montagnone Maschiata volcano, the winery "Giardino Mediterraneo" is reached - after visiting the wine cellar, there is a tasting room with local specialties in the tasting room.

The hike ends in Ischia Porto (walking time approx. 3 hours, 230 Hm).

Day 7: Volcano hike

The hike begins in Casamicciola on the flanks of the volcano Rotaro. You will see the consequences of the explosive volcanic eruptions on the island of Ischia, and learn all about volcanos and their structure.

You will walk around the inside of a volcanic crater and feel the warm gases – the fumaroles. The landscapes that have been shaped by the volcanos are now covered with oak forests, myrtle and heather. Numerous special geological features line the route: volcano domes, obsidian rocks, etc.
The tour ends at Fiaiano with a break in the restaurant Bellavista, with a view of Vesuvius (hiking time ca. 4 hours, 200 m ascent).

Day 8: Return home

After breakfast, transfer to the island harbour, by ferry to the mainland and transfer to Naples Airport, return flight by own arrangement to Germany.
