Hiking package on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg, our rustic-modern Hoffmann’s Guesthouse in Thale, transfers in some cases by public transport and sometimes by hotel car, quiet location beneath the Hexentanzplatz and Roßtrappe, each of which can be reached comfortably by cable car, UNESCO World Heritage City of Quedlinburg just a short distance away, with good bus and rail connections.

Daily tours on our suggested routes, hiking stages can be adapted according to capability.

6 or 5 days Harzer-Hexen-Stieg Leisure Hiking

Hiking on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg around Thale, visit to the World Heritage City of Quedlinburg highly recommended!

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at Hoffmann’s Guesthouse in Thale, free parking at the hotel, rail travellers will be collected at the station.

After occupying your comfortable room there is enough time for a stroll through the town.

The daily hikes are arranged in such a manner to allow sufficient time to discover Thale and its leisure facilities, plus a visit to Quedlinburg!

Day 2: Hike to the Hexentanzplatz and Roßtrappe

Hike from the hotel up to the Hexentanzplatz (“Witches’ Dancefloor”), from there down to the Bode Valley and a climb to the Roßtrappe, ca. 13 km, 510 m ascent.

We recommend taking a comfortable trip by cable car to the Hexentanzplatz and by chair lift to the Roßtrappe, instead of a strenuous climb!

Day 3: On the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg

In the morning by public bus to Königshütte, hike on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg to the Rappbode Dam and on to Hasselfelde, situated on a high plateau. Call for collection by the hotel and transfer back to Thale, hike stage ca. 14 km, no ascents of note.

Day 4: On the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg

In the morning by public bus to Hasselfelde, hike on the Köhler-Lehrpfad to the Sternhaus and Kohlenmeiler, continue on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg down to the Bode Valley and along the Bode to Altenbrak. Call for collection by the hotel and transfer back to Thale, hike stage ca. 14 km, no ascents.
