
Donaubergland Trail
From the roof of the Swabian Alb to the Danube Valley
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival by car or rail to the hotel in Aldingen, free parking at the hotel (throughout the entire hike). From Aldingen railway station it is a short walk to the hotel, or collection can be arranged (depending on the location of the hotels), accommodation in Aldingen.
Day 2: Hike Gosheim – Spaichingen
Short journey by public bus in the morning to the start in Gosheim, then up to the roof of the Swabian Jura at Lemberg, continuing via Wehingen to the Klippeneck near Denkingen, from there to the Dreifaltigkeitsberg near Spaichingen, finally the descent to Spaichingen (ca. 20 km, 760 m ascent), accommodation in Spaichingen.
Day 3: Hike Spaichingen – Mühlheim an der Donau
First back up to the Dreifaltigkeitsberg (the hotel can take guests there upon request), then across the Alter Berg, through the Schäfertal near Böttingen, downhill at Mahlstetten through the Lippach Valley as far as Mühlheim an der Donau (Oberstadt, ca. 22 km, 790 m ascent), accommodation in Mühlheim
Day 4: Hike Mühlheim – Fridingen an der Donau
From Mühlheim over the Kolbinger Höhle and down into the Danube town of Fridingen (ca. 14 km, 470 m ascent), accommodation in Fridingen
Day 5: Hike Fridingen – Beuron Monastery
The Donaubergland Trail has another treat in store with unique views of the Upper Danube Valley, up to the ruins of Kallenberg, and then on below Buchheim to Bronnen Castle, before finally reaching the end of the stage at Beuron Monastery (ca. 15 km, 500 m ascent).
Dinner and accommodation in the monastery (if accommodation is not possible in the monastery, the hikers will be collected and brought to Beuron)
Day 6: Hike Beuron Monastery – Hausen im Tal
From Beuron Monastery across the historical wooden bridge up to the Rauher Stein and Eichfelsen. Panoramic views of the Danube Valley, then back down to the Danube and, on the opposite side, an ascent to the medieval Wildenstein Castle, continuing uphill and downhill to wonderful viewing points, then to Hausen im Tal (ca. 16 km, 690 m ascent), accommodation in Hausen im Tal
Day 7: Hike Hausen im Tal – Gutenstein
Rocks upon rocks today. A hike along a craggy mountain chain, in particular the mighty Schaufelsen and the ruins of Falkenstein invite you to spend some time, before continuing over the bridge to Gutenstein, where both today’s stage and the hiking tour end (ca. 15 km, 600 m ascent), pick-up in Gutenstein and transfer to the hotel in Langenhart.
Day 8: Departure
Departure from Sigmaringen station or return to the car at your first hotel, the hotel will take participants to the station, return journey times can be found in our travel documents.
Individual hiking tours
Individual hiking tours in Germany can be hiked at the stated times without a hiking guide, also by individuals. We provide you with all of the necessary materials, such as hiking map, tour description, etc.
Guided hiking tours
Guided hiking tours in Germany differ from the individual tours in that an experienced guide with local knowledge accompanies you during the entire tour.
Fixed quarters tours
On our fixed quarters tours you start out on a hike every day from your fixed quarters, on a route that will lead you back to your hotel. We arrange all necessary transfers, which are usually provided by the local hotels.
