Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at the hotel in Dillenburg from April to October every Thursday or Friday
After occupying your room there is plenty of time to get to know the historical town.

Free outdoor parking at the hotel, indoor parking for a fee.
By train to Dillenburg station, from there a short taxi ride to the hotel (500 m).

Day 2: Hike from the Westerwald to Dillenburg

Transfer in the morning to Rabenscheid, a small town in the high Westerwald, from there a hike on the Rothaarsteig to Dillenburg, ca. 18 km, 150 m ascent

Short version: ca. 11 km, 150 m ascent.

Day 3: Hike to the Fuchskaute

Comfortable journey by rail from Dillenburg station to Würgendorf, from there the hike follows the Rothaarsteig to the Fuchskaute, the highest peak in the Westerwald, at 656 m. After a break, pick-up and transfer back to Dillenburg, ca. 19 km, 330 m ascent

Short version: ca. 12 km, 250 m ascent.

Day 4: Hike on the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Trail

Hike on the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Trail above Bicken, from there to Herborn, a pretty old town with half-timbered houses, ca. 20 km, 470 m ascent. After a break, pick-up and transfer back to Dillenburg.

Short version: ca. 14 km, 410 m ascent.

Day 5: Hike on the Rothaarsteig to Dillenburg

Collection in the morning at the hotel and transfer to Forsthaus Steinbach, from there the hike follows the Rothaarsteig via Rodenbach and Manderbach to Dillenburg, ca.17 km, 230 m ascent

Short version: ca. 11 km, 230 m ascent.

Day 6: Hike on the Westerwald Trail

Short journey by rail to Herborn, hike on the Westerwald Trail to Erdbach, the Erdbachschwinde and the Steinkammern, continue to Breitscheid airfield, ca. 16 km, 650 m ascent. After a break, pick-up and transfer back to Dillenburg

Short version: ca. 10 km, 440 m ascent.

Day 7: Return home

Return home from Dillenburg by own arrangement.
Rail travellers: brief taxi ride to the station.
