Day 1: Arrival

Arrival by own arrangement by rail or car to Baiersbronn in the Northern Black Forest Natural Park. Cars can be parked near the hotel for the duration of the hiking tour (may be subject to a local fee).

Day 2: Hike Baiersbronn – Mitteltal

From the hotel in Baiersbronn the hiking trail leads along the Senkenbach to the lake of the same name and a waterfall, over the heights from Kniebis to Ellenbach Lake, then on to today’s destination in Mitteltal (ca. 12 km, 420 m ascent, 3½ hours).

Day 3: Hike Mitteltal – Schliffkopf

From Mitteltal the hike leads via Grubensattel and Rossbühl to Buhlbach Lake. Here along the “Lotharpfad”, a forest area that was destroyed in the hurricane of 1999, the hiking trail leads to the viewing points on the Schliffkopf, which also marks the end of today’s hike (ca. 17 km, 690 m ascent, 5½ hours).

Day 4: Hike Schliffkopf – Mummelsee

This hiking day involves altitude differences of only a mere 260 metres, but the landscape impressions are immense. The hike leads to the nature conservation centre in Ruhestein, which is well worth a visit, along with a brief detour to the Wildsee. The stage ends directly at the Mummelsee, and the hotel that is beautifully located there (ca. 15 km, 260 m ascent, 4 hours).

Day 5: Hike Mummelsee – Schönmünzach

The Seensteig departs from the Mummelsee and ascends to the Dreifürstenstein, before continuing through the Schifferwald to the dried-up Blindsee. Then the trail leads continuously downhill to Schönmünzach (ca. 22 km, 420 m ascent, 6½ hours).

Day 6: Hike Schönmünzach – Baiersbronn

Today’s stage begins straight away with an ascent from Schönmünzach to the Hunzenbacher Seenblick, and on via Hirschstein and Überzwercher Berg to the Tonbach Valley. The Seensteig now follows a panoramic trail around the Rinkenberg before ending back in Baiersbronn, where the hiking tour began five days ago (ca. 18 km, 600 m ascent, 5 hours).

Day 7: Return home

Return home by own arrangement from Baiersbronn. The hotel will tale rail travellers and their luggage to the railway station (if the hotel is not in the vicinity of the station).
