A hiking trail in the Valley of the Red Grape

The certified hiking trail AhrSteig stretches approximately 110 kilometers, leading from the source of the Ahr River in Blankenheim to its confluence with the Rhine at Remagen-Kripp.

The AhrSteig is not just a demanding trail through the valley of the red grape – it also captivates with its natural diversity and the wealth of natural monuments and cultural treasures along the route.

Breathtaking views into the romantic Ahr Valley and beyond its surrounding heights define the unique character of the trail. Idyllic forest paths and quiet meadow trails alternate with gentle plateaus and narrow rocky tracks; remote high plains give way to lively wine villages.

Some sections of the AhrSteig along the Ahr River were damaged during the 2021 flood. Thanks to repairs and diversions via other scenic segments, the AhrSteig is now once again fully accessible for hikers.

Ahrsteig: 6 stages

Day 1: Arrival at Blankenheim
Day 2: Blankenheim – Aremberg (ca. 22 km, ↑390 m ↓350 m)
Day 3: Aremberg – Insul (ca. 21 km, ↑485 m ↓785 m)
Day 4: Insul – Altenahr (ca. 21 km, ↑690 m ↓750 m)
Day 5: Altenahr – Walporzheim (ca. 21 km, ↑510 m ↓560 m)
Day 6: Walporzheim – Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler (ca. 21 km, ↑480 m ↓370 m)
Day 7: Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler – Sinzig (ca. 21 km, ↑410 m ↓580 m)
Day 8: Departure from Remagen-Kripp

Arrival:

Arrival only Friday or Tuesday to Blankenheim

First arrival at the beginning of April, last arrival mid-November.

By car or train to the first hotel of the tour in Blankenheim or Sinzig,
free parking at the hotel, when arriving by train
take a taxi from Blankenheim Station to the hotel (ca. 15 EUR).

Return to your car at the first hotel from Sinzig-Remagen Kripp or Remagen Station.
