This hike through the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, offers a wide variety of experiences over approximately 118 kilometers. Along shaded trails, hikers will encounter ancient churches, fortified castles, and sandstone peaks covered in fir, beech, and pine forests. The route also reveals military remnants of the Maginot Line, as well as charming, vibrant villages known for their crystal artisans and stonemasons. In this harmonious landscape, the spire of Strasbourg Cathedral rises in the distance.

The GR53 is part of the Vosges Crossing, the first French hiking trail to be awarded the “Leading Quality Trails – Best of Europe” label. This journey covers the northern section of the crossing.
